To see project categories, go to nhd.org. Hover over "contest", then click on "get started." Scroll down to the information about project categories.

PROJECT EXAMPLES

Visit this NHD webpage to view examples of each Project Category from past years. This could help you decide which project would best fit your learning style. 
  • Choose a tile/year that interests you
  • Scroll down and select the plus sign ("+") to expand the menu under the category that interests you

Research, Sources, and Annotations

There is no single, direct path to research. It can be done in a variety of different ways. However you decide to organize your research process, please keep track of what sources you think you may use in your final product.

This video will help you differentiate primary and secondary sources, take you through options for finding primary sources when they are listed within secondary sources, and give you places to start looking for both primary and secondary sources.
